WANOIR

House of J-Beauty

WANOIR is a Tokyo-based select shop for Japanese niche cosmetics and fragrance, shipping worldwide. We curate skincare, makeup and perfumery from across Japan — chosen for quality and aesthetics, and presented with the stories of the materials, regions and makers behind them.

The House

A single standard, applied to every object.

WANOIR is a select shop: we do not make products, we choose them. Each piece is assessed on its origin, the transparency of its materials, the craft behind it, and the evidence that it performs — before it is admitted to the house. The assortment covers cosmetics and fragrance only, because depth in two fields serves our customers better than breadth across many.

WANOIRは製品を作るのではなく、選ぶ店です。原点、素材の透明性、技、実績という基準でひとつひとつを見極め、コスメとフレグランスの二つの領域に絞って深く揃えます。

Four Perspectives

How the collection is organised.

J-Curated Beauty

A carefully selected line-up of skincare and makeup, from established prestige houses to niche makers, curated by quality and aesthetics.

J-Sensory Journeys

Storytelling and visual content that appeal to the senses — sight, scent and touch — carrying Japanese aesthetics and philosophy through cinematic film and editorial.

J-Modern Rituals

Enduring staples for daily life: fragrances and daily care that sit naturally inside modern routines and the practice of self-care.

J-Regional Discoveries

A special archive of regional Japan — natural materials such as yuzu, hinoki, getto and kuromoji, and the work of local perfumers — introduced to the world.

Journal

Notes on materials, regions and makers.

The Journal is WANOIR's open reference library. It begins with the materials themselves — what they are, where they grow, how they are made into scent and skincare — written to be read, quoted and kept.

Material Library — Wood

Hinoki: Japan's Sacred Cypress

Hinoki (Chamaecyparis obtusa) is the conifer behind Japan's oldest wooden architecture, its bath culture and a distinctive family of calm, luminous woody scents. A material guide: botany, scent profile, extraction, and how hinoki is used in fragrance and skincare.

Material Library — Leaf

Getto: Okinawa's Fragrant Leaf

Getto, or shell ginger (Alpinia zerumbet), is a subtropical leaf plant of the Ryukyu Islands — wrapped around festival rice cakes, brewed as tea, and increasingly distilled and extracted for fragrance and skincare. A material guide to its scent, traditions and cosmetic uses.
